Decision Making Course

Worksafe BC case study

The Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia decided to build a “Decision-Making” online course. The course was intended to provide experienced WCB officers with professional development in the skills of weighing evidence and in making accurate consistent decisions.

The goal of the course was to build upon the previous decision making experience of key decision makers at several levels throughout the organization, and to add to their previous classroom and on the job training in a measurable way.

The course included case studies and practical decision making exercises as well as some more abstract concepts, and multimedia presentations.

Results have been carefully evaluated by the WCB and feedback from learners is logged and analyzed.

Overwhelmingly the results have been positive, with many users citing the flexibility to work at their own pace, and the more applied nature of the course as reasons for their engagement.
